I hate having to do that shit. Both Livejournal and Xanga blogs are were equally guilty of the case when it comes to shit like this. Back when I was on Blogger, I had to find workarounds to bypass the silly ‘Register and Login before you comment’ shit.

First I tried Haloscan, but after realizing that I can’t import those comments should I decide to change platforms in the future, I switched to something that was then known as Metempsychosis Hack. It was fussy but it worked nicely… until the spam started rolling in. In the hundreds.

That was the major reason why I switched to Wordpress. I learned about the freedom to add spam countermeasures as much as I saw fit, and that was exactly what I did. After that, I was relieved that I can make settings such that visitors only need to provide an email and have one approved comment before they can freely comment on my blog. At least, I managed to solve the problem on my side; give more freedom to visitors, and have more control over spam.

Still, I’ve come across many blogs which I’d just love to comment, but some of them still need me to create an account [I'm looking at you, Jeff!], and sometimes a TypeKey account, and the worst is the Xanga, since Livejournal still allows anonymous comments. I think it can get worse, now that there are MySpace and Friendster blogs, newer and more potent virulent extensions of the most widespread global epidemic internet diseases.

Hurray for Wordpress blogs!

I feel like going for a frappuccino with someone. But I don’t really play favourites with you people, so here’s a little game to help me decide :D

I just got myself a new harddisk, and it’s large enough to accommodate some big partitions, so I split it into four. All this while, I’ve had quite a few partitions which I simply named My Documents, My Music, My Videos, PC Games, Stash, and Anime, each serving its respective purposes. [Stash is where I toss used to toss in random stuff].

However, upon upgrading my system [I run a dual core now, I might blog about that some other time], I decided to reorganize and straighten things out, now that I have more room to move things around. I also took the liberty of renaming some of the older partitions.

Anyhow, after making the four new partitions, I’m fresh out of names. I could only come up with names of swords - which isn’t so bad if not for the fact that it stands out among the rest so much.

So, what I need you to help me out here with, is to come up with a set of four names that are relevant to each other, perhaps with a certain theme, and preferably names that don’t stand out too much compared to the other partitions. I honestly couldn’t think of any.

Can you? Winning entry gets a frappuccino treat at Starbucks!

“I should also call Telstra to see what’s up with the PHONE. Because without it, there is no INTERNET. And I DIE.”
- Xahra

I choked on my hot chocolate reading that. Simply because I would feel the same way, should it ever happen to me. Somehow, I’ve grown accustomed to living my life connected 24/7, even when I’m away from the PC. I might be driving to class, [or sleeping in it] or having lunch with friends or walk around taking pictures but my mind would be at ease as long as Luna remains online while I’m away.

My lifestyle has changed a lot over the years since I adopted the Internet ‘culture’ [if one may so call it]. I mean, I remember tinkering around with an IBM PC and messing with Windows 3.1, DOS, and playing 16-bit games but then again my childhood never really revolved around the digital things.

Before I brought the internet into my life [or the other way around, as some may say], I spent my evenings doodling and drawing and doing useless things like poking a beehive, getting chased by a boar, catching dragonflies and stuffing firecrackers down the throats of frogs. In many ways, I had a colourful and vibrant childhood.

I think I really got myself into this tangled web [pun intended] when I joined the Xfresh forums back in 2000. At 15 years old, it was a tough year for me. My dad pulled me out of boarding school because of a discipline case, forcing me to leave behind all the friends I made and bonded with and I suddenly found myself back in the local secondary school where friends from my primary school have attended over the past few years.

*maniacal laugh*

Check out the number of Naruto seeders.
They OUTNUMBER the leechers!

*high-five Peh*

Good luck with broadband, fellas ;)

Fellow VPN users, you might wanna notice that Sakura and
Enterprise have a lot less traffic compared to the other servers.

Try it yourself. I usually swap between those two and it’s been great so far.
[Although at times I have moved to Kusanagi when those two jam up]

Note:
That Naruto episode finished downloading in approximately 75 minutes.
Though it probably wasted the first 5 minutes hooking up with the tracker and seeders.

A lot of my visitors have asked me various questions about the way I blog. From things like my taking down the Saybox chat box from the sidebar, right to how I reply blog comments. Mostly the questions revolved around the things that could boost my site traffic. At which I ask them “Why would I need a big traffic boost?” and without skipping a beat they said “Can make money, what?”

Yeah, making money through blogging. Some people think that it’s the greatest thing since bottled peanut butter. While I don’t have anything against that idea, I do think that many people have misunderstood that notion and I’m not too happy about that fact. More than a few people have come up to me and say stuff like “Why you never put ads on your blog one, can make money you know. You’re wasting the opportunity!”

O RLY? If you feel like you’re losing out, then by all means go on and pepper your blog with ads. I don’t have to do all that and I still get plenty of perks just by holding a simple and ad-free blog. What perks, you ask?

This is where I really feel like laying the smackdown on all of you blogvertisers. Without having put up a single ad or sponsored post, I have received two awesome things any blogger would definitely want: free domain, AND free hosting.

All I did, was humble blogging. And being nice to people.
