Allow me to welcome you to the The Silent Room once more!

This time, I have finally managed to obtain the .com domain name, out of kindness of the previous owner. This will be the final address change, and this is permanent, so please update your bookmarks and blogrolls, yea?

It’s also easier to get here now. Instead of typing thesilentroom.net or thesilentroom.org, you can just type in thesilentroom and press Ctrl+Enter. Most browsers will automatically add the http://www. and .com in the address.

There’s still some small adjustments to be made to the layout code, but everything else seems to be running just fine. Regular blogging will resume soon!

More than 15 new titles added into the list since the last update [July 2006], as well as updating the completion of many various series that were ongoing back then! Sorry, Jeff, all of my collection are fansubs because I can’t afford to purchase original anime on DVD [yet *sobs*] and besides, many fansubs put helpful episode notes for various terms and questions that might arise in the shows [take for example, Wannabe's excellent work with their School Rumble releases, or Eclipse's German translations for Fate/Stay Night].

Always happy to spread the love! You can check out the list by clicking this link, or the link at the sidebar :D

I kinda realised that with the amount of pictures I’ve shot and the estimated number of posts there will be about my trip to Egypt, I figured I should just as well make a special category for it! It’s a very special set of photos for me and I’d like it to be easily reached with minimal clicks.

So there. :D More mundane daily blog entries and travelogs soon!

Nothing much, really. I just toyed with the CSS file, and basically did a few things;

  • Fixed the h2 headings for sidebar.
  • Also added some horizontal rules to sandwich the sidebar headings
  • Fixed the font sizes and margins for the sidebar’s bulleted lists
  • Modified the general link properties i.e. removed the underline and properly made the unvisited links bold, whereas visited links will not be bolded.

The Silentscope, Eggheads and Art Gallery will undergo some major overhaul soon as I will be using Wordpress for all of them :p thank goodness for Fantastico. As such, they might be screwy or broken. Please disregard those until I reannounce them.

In case you’re worried, you will still get your occasional fix of my superbly enchanting boring photos and Eggheads’ latest strip through this main blog :D

First off, I’d like to wish everyone Salam Aidilfitri Mubarak, please forgive my misdeeds and awful sense of humour. I can never thank you enough for putting up with me all this while. My gratitude cannot be described by words, and I offer you my most humble apologies.

Yea, I know I don’t really have a fandom swooning over my disappearance, but at least I know that if you’re reading this, you must have been wondering what happened to this site for the past few weeks.

See, it’s like this: My domain registration expired on 5/10/06, as does my webhosting but at that time I was having my exams so I decided to put off paying the bills until the exam stress is over and dealt with [Alhamdulillah I passed all my papers]. Blogasian [my webhost provider] are a very kind of helpful lot to let me delay the payments for a while, since they know I don’t own a credit card nor a paypal account and it might be late before they can get any payment from me - which was why they alerted me that my subscription would end soon, so I have some time to arrange whatever that was necesary to make those payments [thanks, Albert!].

GoDaddy, my domain registrar, isn’t quite like that. Before I realise it, on 6th Oct itself, I was unable to access the blog, and was redirected to a GoDaddy search page. I was quite amused at first, but it wasn’t really a big matter because I knew I could settle the payments soon. However, 2 weeks later, when Albert tried to help me make payments to them he was unable to find the domain that he should pay for.

I contacted GoDaddy tech support only to learn that the domain has entered a redemption period of 30 days before it’s released to the registry, and the domain won’t be available to the public until 5 days later. That part, I don’t mind. Here’s the bullshit: if I want to redeem the domain during that time I must make payments of USD80 on top of the USD10 renewal fee.

FUCK YOU, BITCH. GODADDY SUCKS.

So I figured, hell, I better let that one go, and registered this dotORG domain with a local company instead. I did a little research, and contacted the owner of a dotCOM domain of the same name. He seems to be a very nice and if things turn out well, I might make one final transition to a dotCOM.

The move might cost a bit but hell, I think it’ll be damn worth it.

Aaaaaanyway,… now that the site is up and running again, it’s back to blogging! Lots of backlogged blog posts, pictures, and one belated Gundam review!
