Two Questions
April 22nd, 2010Just a few quick questions, and my target here is you, the Malay Muslim.
However, if you’re not a Malay Muslim, well, feel free to adjust accordingly (lol).
Has taking pride in the Malay language, Malay culture, Malay heritage, Malay behavior, and Malay conscience – made you a better person?
Has it made you a respectable person, as in, can you honestly look at yourself, and respect the things that you have said and done?
We talk and preach about the elegance of our Malay culture and behavior all the time, but do you see yourself showcasing that elegance?
If so, how and in what way has it made you a respectable Malay?
Now I will ask the same question again, but with a little twist.
Has practicing Islam, Islamic values and teachings made you a better person? A respectable person, that people can take you seriously about the things you say? Has being a Muslim made you a better person?
If so, how and in what way has it made you a respectable Muslim?
I’m not trying to judge you or question your credibility or anything, I’m just curious (as usual).
Indulge me on this one, please.

Maaf bang, saya tak boleh nak jawab pasal saya ni hipokrit.
Silencers: Hipokrit yang jujur. Kira ok la tu.
ok. sry bout that. Just wanted to test to see if the comment came out. I actually posted a comment before that but it didnt appear. Sigh. Will have to re-write it again. zzz
1st question: NO! no. and heck no.
2nd question: YES! Im not saying Im a good person but being a muslim has always made me ache to be a better person. And as a muslim girl I feel more respected by other guys compared to my other girlfriends. I use to be in a private highschool andi had one friend who called all my female classmates “bitch” but he never called me that. I even told him “never call me that” and he said “yea. I would never dare”
So yea, being a Muslim is something Im proud of. Being a malay… not so much.
Did I answer your question properly?? Hope this helps ur curiousity.
Saye budak jahat :D
adyla, kalau tak bangga jadi Melayu, bangga jadi apa – mat salleh celup?
Silencers: Yay, traffic spike!
I was NEVER proud to be a Malay. I will NEVER be proud to be proud of any “skin colour classification based groups”.
I treat all human has equal human rights. I don’t believe just because I was born as a Malay, I “deserve” to earn special rights.
Being paranoid of other group of people with similiar genetic codes is just plain Nazi. Really. Go ahead and believe Aryan is the most powerful race in the world and step down on others.
I don’t believe in being a respectable Malay. But I do STRONGLY believe in becoming a respectable human; being respected by everyone.
When it comes to culture, it’s a completely different matter. I cherish and enjoy learning about culture. ANY culture, not limited to a single culture just because I was born into that ethnicity.
Learning about other’s culture gives me the thrills and excitement. By dealing with a lot of people, I get the chance to exchange information on culture and tell others about us.
Religion? I believe that preaching about Russell’s Teapot DO make me a better person lol.
Silencers: I’d rather preach the gospel of flying spaghetti monsters or invisible pink unicorns. Teapots is teh lame.
Well, and those two of course, lol.
How if I am neglected by my own race?
@adyla
YES! Im not saying Im a good person but being a muslim has always made me ache to be a better person. And as a muslim girl I feel more respected by other guys compared to my other girlfriends.
I dunno, this seems totally irrelevant to the issue.
You probably weren’t called a bitch because you aren’t a bitch.
I said probably, because that bit remains to be seen.
Further, it seems that you’re just religious, it has nothing to do with the religion itself, or rather that’s what anyone can glean from your comment.
YEp. Im just religious and if im not proud of being malay Im proud of being myself and a Muslim.
p.s. MAt salleh celup? hahaha.
@wat:
hw can one be religious if it has nothing to do with religion itself. it’s like saying ‘i’m an auditor, but i have nothing to do with audit’. it depends on ones understanding of the religion if he or she wants to be religious.
@ian.tam:
“How if I am neglected by my own race?”
I understand… I’ve experienced it as well. :(
@silencer: flying spaghetti monster?! WHERE!? *runs to get fork and spoons.
Silencers: Look here.
