Today is a Wednesday.

This semester, I have every Wednesdays off as I managed to arrange my classes in such a way that none of them would fall on a Wednesday. A Wednesday is probably the second best day of the week, the best being Saturday. If Wednesday is a holiday, then it would have been the best day of the week, pushing Saturday to second place.

I like chilling out on Wednesdays.

On Wednesdays, movie tickets are cheaper than usual, only 7 bucks. On Wednesdays, the city streets, the roads, and the highways are a bit less crowded compared to Saturday, Sunday and Monday. The same goes for restaurants, too. I like trying out new restaurants, I’d be looking out for all the interesting menu and decor they might have to offer.

If I ever decide to try out a new place, I would always try to go for a Wednesday lunch. It’s a lot less crowded and I get to fully immerse in the food and the atmosphere – every single cent the owner invested in it. Makes the experience more worth it than going on a Friday dinner, shoving seats with the massive crowds looking for some stress relief.

I like walking around my neighbourhood on Wednesday evenings.

Wednesday is a time when everyone is in the middle of something. If I happen to walk by a familiar neighbour and chat him up, we’d have something to talk about. We can talk about what happened on Monday or we can talk about what’s going to happen on Friday. Wednesdays are the best times to talk to strangers because usually its either too early, or too late to get caught up in anything.

Today is a Wednesday.

But it’s not just an ordinary Wednesday. This Wednesday is the day I round up one more year of my life, and today I am 24 years old. This Wednesday is a little special because I don’t have any classes, nor do I have to submit any assignments. I don’t have to attend any meetings, and I don’t have to worry about the petty things that I can do on Thursday or Friday. It’s too early, or perhaps too late for me to do them. Whatever, it doesn’t matter.

But hey, today is a Wednesday. It is a Wednesday that also happens to be my birthday.

On my birthday, I usually climb up the roof of my house, look at the stars and think about all that has happened since the previous birthday. Not this birthday though, because this birthday falls on a Wednesday. So it’s not just a special Wednesday, it’s a special birthday too. Instead of looking back to the past, today I shall lift my face and look to the future.

Today is my birthday, and I am simply happy that it fell on a Wednesday.
