Small Talk:
July has not been very kind to me. It’s been extremely hot, and extremely long. Some people even commented that I lost weight, and look sickly. I guess in the end, it’s all worth it. There’s still plenty of loose ends to take care of, though.

DSLR
A dSLR is something I have been craving ever since I learnt that there are apertures bigger than F2.8, and smaller than F8.0. I never really wanted to spend on such expensive photography equipment, so I tried all sorts of ways to compensate the limited capabilities of the compact cameras that I’ve ever owned.

Fortunately, I managed to save enough money at one point to not only purchase a dSLR kit, but also a prime lens and more recently, a flash unit. Funny thing is, with the amount of time I’m spending on various projects, I rarely have the time to take leisurely walks and shoot around town.

Anime
Anime, or rather, fansubbed anime, has changed my life dramatically. I started out as a regular guy who ‘sees’ anime whenever it’s on TV. Then I started reading lots of manga translated into Bahasa (Mutiara Naga, fuck yeah!), and it was about that time that I started to pick up Japanese in my boarding school. I was genuinely curious about the “weird-looking” Japanese characters that was used in manga sound effects. At first I thought the characters would make some kind of awesome sound, only to be disappointed when I realised that powering up makes a sound as silly as “GOGOGOGOGO” and “ZAZAZAZA”.

Things began to take even more drastic turns when I start to get involved with the local anime fan base. But that is a story that’s far, far too long for this meme. Still, allow me to brag that I’ve over 300 anime titles in my personal (*cough*illegal*cough*) collection.

Ponytail, what does that mean?
It’s means I’m too busy or too lazy to visit the barber shop. On another note, some girls look really good in ponytails. Kinda turns me on, especially if they do it with style. I recently cut it off, though. Weather’s been driving me insane, and the thick hair doesn’t really help, heh.

Strong women
I hope this doesn’t mean big, muscular women.

I admire women who carry strength not in their muscles, but in their essence and character. Strength isn’t about exerting authority or a commanding presence, and this applies to both genders. I’ve met many women who don’t even realise the strength of their spirit, yet they draw from it day to day.

Like this one aunty I chat up once in a while, she works as a cleaning staff at my neighbourhood McDonalds’s. It’s back breaking work, but if it’s an honest work that would feed her and her daughter, her preserverance and honesty at work is testament to that strength. Ladies who refuse to be told that they can’t handle a certain assignment by her boss, only to surpass his expectations. Secretaries whose work people rarely ever appreciate, but their dilligence, sense of order and commitment to quality speaks greatly of their strength.

Silent Room (NOT Silencers)
This has probably been hinted at a few times on this blog, but I truly am an admirer of silence. I have a strange affinity for stillness, calm and silence. A vacation I would really love is somewhere quiet, peaceful and foreign. I don’t really like noisy, crowded places and I hate dance clubs with a vengeance.

The Silent Room is a name I picked out of a need for a place of solace. I remember being in a recording studio back in my days with Astro. The sensation of being in a dark, cold, sound proof room was simply extraodinary. It’s like I stepped into a small universe that is separated from the one I’ve always known.

Silence is the origin of my birth, and silence is the final destination of my life.
