Small Talk:
Damn you, Adobe. Always changing the shortcut keys and interfaces with every new version. And now you’ve removed ImageReady, wtf?

Mini update:
I figured I might as well do the rest of the covers. Only up till Book 6, though.

I downed a bit too much coffee earlier this morning, and after I got most of the important work done (somewhere around 8am or so, since I started somewhere around 4am), I ended up sitting in front of the PC bored as hell. So, I started to do some random stuff. And here’s the result.

I heard that Del Rey will be printing the novels in English some time this year, so I thought maybe I should whip up some covers. You know, since they’re gonna call it The Garden of Sinners (instead of Kara no Kyoukai, or The Boundary of Emptiness). All I did was take a couple of hi-res scans and put in some text in Trajan (damn, this font made all the difference).

In fact it didn’t just end there. I’ve done reading the first three chapters of Kara no Kyoukai, translated from the web edition by Mirrormoon, so I thought I’d do something about the body text. So I converted it all to Helvetica (haha), since the release wasn’t proofread, I kinda went through some of the more obvious spelling and grammatical errors.

I didn’t really scrutinize the passages, just running through so there aren’t anymore red marks (from typo) and just did some formatting with the headings and added in some page breaks just so they look nicer in print. I also kinda fixed up the Japanese names so that they have consistent spellings all the way. You know, between Ryogi, Ryougi and Ryohgi, I just picked Ryougi and standardised all the names.

It looked rather decent for a job done out of boredom, so I put in page numbers and PDF-ed it. Maybe some other time I’ll take it for a double-sided print job, together with the covers and bind them. Just for the fun of it.

Now, before you start giving me shit, I do intend to buy the Del Rey publications when they’re out. I’ve been buying a lot of manga and translated novels from Japan so you can take my word on that. In fact, I’ll be more than happy to gloat about it when it’s in my hands.

THey look pretty good.

Now if only I could read the actual text. :P

Eh, seriously ? Del Ray is gonna print out the novels ?

:D

This is great news ! Altho I’m not really a book / novel reader, but I’m definitely going to buy this. At least I can check out whats the differences between the OVA and the novel.

I do hope there won’t be any lost translation while in the process of translating tho. ^^;

Here’s hoping also for the Fate / Zero novels translations as well ! :P
