This is how I look like most of the time, these days.
So, the new term has just recently started. I had to go through a bit of trouble to get myself registered for the course, but I’m happy to tell you that I only have one class per week, no thanks to some rather… unpleasant circumstances from over half a year ago. At least I can take it easy again this year, and give a bit more attention to other things.
What other things, you ask? Quite a few, actually.
Design Portfolio
I’ve been trying to build my portfolio of graphic design work and such. So with the amount of spare time I’m currently enjoying, I figured I should take on some freelance jobs and pile up my credentials as I go. Hopefully, by the time I graduate, I would have a good amount of stuff to get my a decent job. You see, I plan to graduate, work in the industry for a year, and after that, try to pursue a Masters degree overseas.
Yep, you guessed that right, I hope I’ll be able to spend a few years in Japan. Well, anywhere away from the equator is okay, actually. I’d like to spend a year experiencing the four seasons, hopefully with a chance to play with real snow. But then, that’s a long way to go.
A President’s Job
Speaking of Japan, there’s the club I’m currently taking care of. Things haven’t been going as smoothly as I hoped. There’re several thorns in my side about several issues, but none, I dare say, are lethal. Some projects were successful, some just didn’t quite turn out so well.
Still, it’s a new academic year, and this time, we’re blessed with a horde of fresh SPM leavers, hopefully ones eager enough to participate and explore university-level club activities. We’re in desperate need of eager and motivated manpower, so hopefully, with our initial ice-breaking event, we can draw more people in to help us out.
Good Old Boy
And then, there’s my car. Ah, my poor car. After the latest fuel hike, I find myself cringing everytime I turn the ignition. A full tank costs RM110 now, when it used to be RM80 less than two months ago. It doesn’t help that my 1992 Proton Saga is quite a guzzler, and now my dad is suggesting that I take my mother’s Wira, and sell off the Saga.
I think the Wira’s a good car. It’s got good mileage, and I kinda like the overall feel of the car. The thing is,… I love my car. It’s been with me for almost four years now. I’ve shared a ton of memories with it. I’ve taken it for long drives, crashed it into a pole, backed it into a lecturer’s vehicle, stranded without fuel and several burn-outs in the middle of the city.
I’ve changed a good number of parts, some I personally selected to fit my taste and needs. I must admit that I’ve treated it rather harshly, though. I’m not really a good car owner. I guess the appreciation comes only with time. I love my Boy, and I would hate to see the day when I have to let it go.
What else?
I haven’t been in much of a mood to write, lately. Blame it on lethargy, bad weather and wealthy political families, brouahaha. I bought a Gunpla kit the other day, after having not built one for a while. Maybe I’ll write about that after it’s done. Oh, and I’ll be sure to catch up with some campus stories, too.
