The weather hasn’t been friendly today, being mostly hot and dry and most of my time this week was spent outdoors. I kind of arranged with some friends to go out and hang out over some bottomless chips at Chili’s since it’s been a while since we last did any of that. I thought there were only four of us, but on my way there, I found out another person was joining us - an old friend of mine.

I was a bit annoyed that they’re bringing in an outsider to what was originally a guys’ night out. It’s been a while since I hung out with my buddies, catching up, bonding over the usual guy talk of tits, money and random politics [Mwaharharhar, I'm just another one of those stereotypical male chauvinist pigs].

Having women in the mix just turns it into sort of a giggly group date, instead of a session of gar-filled laughter. Not that it’s a bad thing, but I was annoyed that my expectations were somewhat betrayed, nonetheless. Knowing that nothing I say or do can change the situation, I decided to ask who else was coming. All I got was a snarky reply.

“I think she’s alone. Best of luck.”

This is how I look like most of the time, these days.

So, the new term has just recently started. I had to go through a bit of trouble to get myself registered for the course, but I’m happy to tell you that I only have one class per week, no thanks to some rather… unpleasant circumstances from over half a year ago. At least I can take it easy again this year, and give a bit more attention to other things.

What other things, you ask? Quite a few, actually.

Small Talk:
‘Cause I’m such a lazy bastard, I decided not to do a travelogue for my previous trip to Vietnam. Sorry, but occasionally, I’ll write a few anecdotes of the cooler things that happened. Haha, if I kept you waiting, I humbly apologise. m(_ _)m

I received a phone call from a familiar number. It was from a certain media broadcast centre I used to work at many years ago, and some of my ex-colleagues still keep in touch with me today. I remember the days I spent as an online content developer back then. It was probably the best thing I ever did for myself.

This friend who called used to be in the same team I was, but he was in charge of on-ground promotions. These days, he goes on air on one of the popular local radio stations. He called in for a small favor and this wasn’t the first time.

Yet another image unrelated to the post.

Being a radio jock isn’t as easy as one may believe. It involves a lot of monologue and you have to be able to maintain a cheerful attitude throughout your airtime - even if you were having the worst day of the week. While I haven’t had any experience going on air, I do have some experience doing voice-overs [pre-recorded radio shows, as opposed to live broadcasts] and along the way, I kind of picked up the nature of the environment around the studio.

Since jocks often spend hours alone in the studio, it can get quite hard to monologue all the time. Also, since not everyone is that keen on calling up the jocks and keep them company, they’ll have to improvise their own content to make the show a bit more interesting. That’s where caller segments come in.

A new month, a new wallpaper :D

Wow, now that I realised it, I haven’t blogged for quite a while. Not that anybody is really bothered by the absence to begin with, heheh :P

Anyway, I’ve been up to a couple things ever since the holidays started. It’s been two weeks since and only a week left before classes start again. The recent exams were thankfully carefree ones as they were pretty much heavy on the assignments - that’s where most of my headaches tend to congregate. Thankfully, those too are pretty much taken care of, and while still on the amateur’s side of the game I earned a small chunk of bragging rights for being the best among noobs. Not a bad start, I guess.
