I’m not exactly too keen on blogging too much about what’s been keeping me the past couple of days. So allow me to sum things up and get it over with before I resume my regular blogging pace.

On Thursday, I got a call from my brother. His infant girl got admitted to the hospital, first for an asthma attack, and then a skin disease. By the time we got there, the doctor told us that she’s been infected with Hand Foot and Mouth disease. Apparently not an uncommon viral disease, and treatment is just a matter of applying creams and mixing medicine into her soupy foods. It got the whole family quite worried at first, but since the situation was pretty much stabilized when we got there, we were relieved.

The only things that bothered us was that the rashes and pustules was giving the poor girl a hard time. She seems to be quite frustrated at the fact she’s still incapable of communicating her pain to us. Seeing her cry like that made me feel like crying too, not at her physical pain, but at her anguish and frustration.

I came back home to find Luna suddenly giving me a BSOD, and then I discovered her 4-year old Western Digital 80GB IDE harddisk cannot be detected. That 80GB housed two partitions, one for the OS and one for my precious work documents. After backing them up [thank God for a 250+500GB] I went up to Lowyat and grabbed a 160GB Western Digital SATA II. I pretty much spent the rest of the evening setting it up, reinstalling Windows and all the necessary programs. It was a lot of work, especially when you depends on quite a number of programs.

Later that night, my dad got a call from a hospital in Taiping. My uncle [dad's brother] got into an accident - his bike ran into a truck, or something like that - and he’s unconscious. The entire family decide to leave for Kuala Kangsar and I’m left to care for the home and handle some things like the electrician who was going to come tomorrow and fix some stuff. The next morning I found out that my uncle suffered brain trauma and injuries to his neck - apparently severe enough to knock him unconscious. Thankfully there weren’t any internal bleeding and he was stabilized quite fast, too.

After prayers, I joined Albert for a geek-out at an equestrian event in Bukit Jalil [thanks for the ticket, dude!]. I tried getting some action shots but unfortunately my S3IS just couldn’t cut it. Or maybe because I wasn’t feeling too innovative or inspired to try harder. At any rate, I got to molest Albert’s A700 and some lenses and had a good time. After another dude joined us [sorry I forgot your name!] I got a call from an aunt [my mother's sister] that she wanted to send some stuff over, so I had to rush home. I felt the drive home was a bit weird so I stopped by the nearby mechanic just to check it out.

My right drive shaft was bent - my front wheels have been severely out of alignment. It seems that the car has not had any alignment maintenance for the past couple of years already - too long for its own good. I sank in my chair that night, feeling tired and after getting my weekly anime dosage, I began to work on my Design assignment. The next morning had to take the car to the workshop and spend an hour or so there before I get to drive it back again.

I’ve postponed meetings, canceled appointments and delayed some work, but at least now things have pretty much sorted themselves out and I can get back to my calm steady life again by tomorrow.

Small Talk:
There’s nothing quite like reading news about the HINDRAF rally while listening to the Azumanga Daioh OST.
It’s almost surreal.
