The coming of Syawal this year has been one that is significantly different than the ones I’ve had in the past. Lots of little occurences that have sparked bits and pieces of imagination in my head. It’s been a while since I left the blog stagnating, mainly because I was either busy, or I didn’t have anything nice to write about.

Repetitive mundane routines and a monotonous pace of life does not a good story make. Any experienced blogger worth his/her penny will definitely agree to that. Therefore, for lack of a decent story to share with you, it’s time for another session of random bits of pieces of tales from an otherwise boring and platonic life.

I balik kampung to Kuala Kangsar, Perak, my dad’s hometown, 2 days before Hari Raya, thinking that we would be able to escape from being stuck in traffic before the floodgates of KL society unleashes its fury upon us. We were pleasantly surprised to find that while the roads aren’t all that empty, it wasn’t all that congested either.

When the other relatives arrived the following days, they related to us that their journey wasn’t as bad as they had expected. It seems that KL citizens have become somewhat organized in a sense that they disperse themselves out of the city across a period of three days, resulting in heavy, yet speedy traffic throughout all the pre-Raya days.

Almost surprising, really.

Today I shall forgive any jealousy and vengeance and hatred that you may have against me…

Starcraft II would look SO good on this baby.

…because I can’t possibly keep you from hating me and my preciousss.

*cough*

I got a Samsung 2232BW 22″ widescreen TFT LCD monitor [market price approx. RM1150] for myself. It’s big, it’s black, and it’s very sexy. Optimum resolution is at 1680×1050 pixels, with 170/170 degrees of viewing angle and it has a nice response time of 2ms. However, this particular model, it seems, has a strange quirk.

LCD displays have two input channels, a digital and an analog [analog is the one with the blue plug, which CRTs use]. The 2232BW displays digital signals as well. Nice, crispy, almost perfect… if not for a very distracting bright magenta/pink vertical line at the left edge of the screen. It almost looks like an entire column of dead pixels.

It is for this reason that I sent it back for an exchange, and faced the same problem again with the new one. However, when I changed it to analog, the pink line mysteriously disappears. Unfortunately, being an analog signal, it gets a bit too contrasty and a little bit glaring. Nothing some minor tweaks won’t fix.

UPDATE:
The pink line of ‘dead pixels’ is actually an error from my VGA’s digital output. I managed to solve this problem by removing the previous nVIDIA Forceware installation [for my 7600GT] and replacing it with the latest version of the driver.

At any rate, I’ve been delaying my LCD purchase for years because I was waiting for the technology to mature and the price to drop. I’ve been burning my eyes staring at 17″ CRTs for the past half decade so I decided that it’s about time that I move on.

Looks like my dSLR purchase is going to get delayed a little while longer…

Small Talk:
This guy never ceases to amaze me with his YM status.

I think I’m still quite young, being in my early 20’s and still not done with my academic journey. Still, I like to think that after spending all the years learning things through all five senses, I’ve grown and matured and made myself that little bit better than I was during my much younger years.

Aspiration.

Ambition.

Dreams.

Hope.

All those were a big part of my personality as I trudged through my school life. Along the way, though, reality decided that it was about time for it to start giving me taps in the shoulder. And tap me in the shoulder it did.

Reality: Hey Faz.

Me: Hmm?

Reality: *points at pretty classmate* You like her?

Me: Hehehe…*blush*..yeah.

Reality: Too bad. She thinks you’re creepy.

Me: What?

Reality: I said, she thinks you’re creepy. You’re gonna get rejected.

Me: Oh. What’s this? “Axe of Truth”? Why is it lodged in my forehead?

I have a lot of things to blog about, actually. To tell you the truth, I’ve been backlogged on a lot of things. I bought a couple of new things, upgraded Luna’s rig and a few other personal developments and stories to tell, too. It’s just that I’m feeling a little bit lethargic, probably because it’s a combination of upcoming exams, waiting for Eid’s arrival and that my latest purchase order has yet to receive any news of confirmation.

I’ll get back to writing properly once things are back in check.
