Yes, I’m feeling bored and uninspired. So I started to Google for random words, and landed in Banana.com. Imagine my amusement when I read the very first sentence.

The true origin of Bananas, world’s most popular fruit, is found in the region of Malaysia.

Damn. I was always thought they were also present in the other South East Asian countries, you know, like Thailand or the Phillipines? Which brought me to another question.

If banana came from Malaysia, where the locals should be introducing them to all the foreigners as a fruit called ‘Pisang‘ how the fuck did the word ‘Banana‘ come around? Refusing to believe such flippant claims [especially the slave-trading part], I decided to run a second check on Wikipedia.

Sure enough, the bananas are also native to other islands in the Malay archipelago, as well as Australia. Maybe Australia is where the name banana came from. I wouldn’t know. I just think that ‘pisang’ is a nicer name than the retarded-sounded ‘banana’.

I did a little bit more googling, and found something else relatd to bananas. Behold the BananaGuard!

Who would’ve thought that anyone would make a plastic guard specifically shaped to protect a banana? Although I find it amusing that it’s lenient towards one type of banana, while here in Malaysia, the bananas vary greatly in shapes and sizes. The bananaguard won’t sell here, I guess.
