Right now, I’m just pissed. Plain, downright fucking pissed. The reason is simple.

Let’s start with a simple short story. My house gets streamyx. More than one PC wants to use it. I was told to get a switch and set up a LAN so that more than one PC can use it. I did just that, everyone’s happy. Now, bandwidth is being throttled, and I searched long and hard for a solution. Solution found, and I enjoyed 3 days of regular download speeds again. Modem stable, PC stable, switch stable, no blackouts, everything was cool.

Until an idiot of an MMU IT graduate who now works for TMNet, selfishly, and noobishly, unplugged the fucking modem FROM THE SWITCH and sticks into her own laptop!

Guess what happened? My connection instantly became retarded. Despite my vigorous attempts at restoring my connection speeds, I’m left stunted. All my alternatives proved to be futile.

Long story short. Don’t be so fucking selfish, and USE THE FUCKING NETWORK SWITCH YOU AIRHEADED LARDASS. I DIDN’T GO THROUGH ALL THAT TROUBLE JUST SO YOU CAN HOG THE MODEM TO YOURSELF LIKE YOU HOG THE FUCKING TV.

I hate dealing with selfish morons. I haven’t felt so pissed off for a long time >:(

UPDATE:
I somehow managed to get total downstream of 15-25 kB/s again. thankfully. Now I’m not THAT pissed anymore since my torrents are now running properly again.

You know, while so many people seem to be fussing themselves over Anna-whatever’s death, I just realised that some deaths that are insignificant are all over the news yet some the death of some key individuals never got the recoginition they truly deserve.

One such person is Goh Pek Hok, also known as Ando Momofuku. Don’t know who he is? If you know that Thomas Edison was the inventor of the lightbulb, and that Alexander Bell was the inventor of the telephone, I will have you know that Ando Momofuku is the Father of Instant Noodles.

Yeah, all you Malaysian university graduates who survived those gruelling pok-kai years on just instant noodles and plain water should at least remember this name. For if it wasn’t Ando-sama, you’d never taste the cheap pleasure that are the instant noodles.

I was surprised to see a decent load of traffic coming in from Redesign Malaysia, yesterday. I read several posts and am now quite interested in the fact heavy broadband users in Malaysia are going to make a big fuss over the throttling issue.

Anyway, I read several of the other blogs linked from the site, and found myself a very interesting solution.

Lucifer suggested that I use a Virtual Private Network (VPN) to access the net when I wrote about my attempts at maintaining a high downstream for my torrents. While I know what a VPN is, I didn’t really understand how it could actually help in masking my traffic.

I found havuk’s blog linked on Redesign, and he offered a most interesting solution. He suggested the use of SecureIX, a free VPN service. Here’s how it works:

As soon as you connect to our VPN server your computer is assigned a new IP address, an IP address that is owned by us, not your ISP. Then all of your Internet traffic is encrypted and is tunneled to our VPN server. Once there, it is decrypted and allowed to travel to its intended destination. Your local ISP will only see a single encrypted data stream between you and our VPN server. Your ISP can no longer monitor, log or control your Internet usage.

[...]

If you wish to use a peer-to-peer (P2P) network, but your ISP has blocked or throttled (slowed) the P2P traffic. Most ISP’s traffic shape P2P traffic to make it use less bandwidth causing slow downloads. If you use our VPN service your ISP will no longer be able to determine that you are using a P2P network and will not be able to block or throttle your usage.

The little boy ran along the beach, happily skipping away with a stick in one hand and an empty pail in the other. Cheerfully he was jumping around, yelping at the cold that tickled everytime the gentle waves washed away at his feet.

Suddenly he saw an old man sitting atop a huge boulder. His thick gray beard almost appeared to muffle him, and his bald head glistened in the light of the evening sun. His skinny frame easily showed through his thin white t-shirt and pale beige khaki’s folded right up to the knees.

The boy quietly approached him, careful not to disrupt the old man’s concentration. The boulder was huge, from where the boy was standing, he had to look up pretty high to where the old man was peacefully seated, legs crossed, fingers interleaved.

‘I wonder if he’s sleeping’ thought the boy.

Just a few inches below the old man’s crossed legs were letters carved into the boulder, facing the sea. It read ‘GOD’. ‘This must be his name’ thought the boy again. He looked up to old man again, this time, attempting to study his face. He squinted his eyes a little bit to capture even the slightest detail.

“Yes, my boy?” said the old man.

Surprised that the quiet figure suddenly spoke, the boy got startled and fell on his butt-cheeks, where the waves instantly greeted them with its cool wetness. ‘Oh, so he wasn’t sleeping after all.’ thought the boy.

“I like watching the sunset like this. The sun isn’t so harsh at this time of the day, and everything just looks that much more beautiful.” said the old man.

The boy, still sitting, turned around to face the sea. Indeed, the sky was red and orange and yellow, and further up it was also purple and blue and violet. The sea sparkled as if gold dust was sprinkled all over it. Captivated by the sight, the boy nodded in agreement. He turned back to the old man and asked “Are you, um,..”

He paused for a brief moment and looked at the carved letters on the boulder.

“What is it, boy?” asked the old man.

“Are you God?”

Howsabout a pimpin’ post, yo?

Quite frankly, I haven’t seen any of these bands before, so I wouldn’t know, hahaha. But I’ve been to KL Jam Asia, yeah. However, I have not been there since its renovation. Anyway, I’m meeting up with Albert and a couple of friends there.

Come and hang out with good company and great music!
