Prophecies always amuse me. It seems Nostradamania has struck us yet again. I received a very interesting method to predict the winner of the 2006 FIFA World Cup. I got this as a forwarded message on YM;

Some amazing World Cup math: Brazil won the world cup in 1994.

Before that, it had won this title for the last time in 1970.
If you add up: 1970 + 1994 = 3964
Argentina won the world cup for the last time in 1986.
Before that only in 1978.
And 1978 + 1986 = 3964
Germany, though, won the world cup in 1990.
Before that, Germany won in 1974.
Look: 1990 + 1974 = 3964.
This could lead us to guess the winner of the World Cup in 2002,
since it should be the winner of the 1962 World Cup
(In fact 3964 - 2002 = 1962). And Brazil won the world cup in 1962!
(And, in fact, Brazil won the 2002 WC)
This numerology seems to work…
And now, who would be the winner of the 2006 world cup?
Let’s see, 3964 - 2006 = 1958
And who won in 1958?

Oh, Brazil did !!!

Since the first World Cup was held in 1930, I guess this ‘prophecy’ lasts until 2034. Hmm,… looks like we’re set to predict 7 5 more World Cup winners!. There was no World Cup on 1946 and 1942 because World War II was taking place instead. Stupid wars. [Or, God forbid, does this mean there will be war during 2018 and 2022?]

UPDATE: I did the math for you and listed the ‘future’ winners for you.
2010 - Germany [who won in 1954]
2014 - Uruguay [who won in 1950]
2018 - [nobody won in 1946 because of WW2]
2022 - [nobody won in 1942 because of WW2]
2026 - Italy [who won in 1938]
2030 - Italy [who won in 1934]
2034 - Uruguay [who won in 1930]

Since the magic number here is 3964, the axial origin of this whole theory is therefore the 1982 World Cup, won by Italy. I then did a little symmetrical analysis and discovered a [not too surprising] flaw in this ‘prophecy’ though. According to the aforementioned theory;

1966 + 1998 = 3964

However, on 1966 and 1988, England and France won, respectively. Thus meaning that you suckers can stop betting your money already. Give them to me instead, after doing all this tiring math for you, MWHAHAHAHA.

Oh, how I dearly wish my own life can be predicted with such simple math. It would probably help me get out of some of the serious shit I’ve gotten myself into in the past, lol.
