Unblogged Rantings, and The Blue Dilemma

July 9th, 2005

For some reason, I have had plenty of occasions which I would usually make a mental note of as blogworthy. But then again, it often slips off my mind whenever I drive back home, and I completely forgot about it. Whenever I do get back in front of Sarah and I felt like I want to blog, I’d go ‘Shit, what was that I wanted to blog about again?’. Dagnabit.

It’s frustrating really, forgetting what it was you wanted to blog. I mean, I have this really interesting story I wanted to tell, yet everytime I get behind the wheel, drive home, my mind would be completely taken over by the road, and by the time I reach home, I’d be browsing around for new anime torrents and then realise that I’m staring blankly at the monitor, after having completely forgotten that amazing story I wanted to write about.

Graahhh.

Anyway, I’ve started playing DotA on Blue the past few days [yes, yes, I know it's been there since last year] and it was pretty okay. It kinda brought back memories of playing on the official Battle.net servers. I missed random team matchups, man, it’s my favourite ladder. Unlike the Solo ladder, where games are won solely on skill and tactics, the Random Team ladders also involve teamwork, and a bit of luck.

Now, I’m a very very horrible solo player, but I believe I can hold myself pretty well in team games. I mean, sometimes you get teammates that totally suck, but they’re willing to obey your orders [because they know they suck], and you have a chance of winning. Sometimes you get really good, but stuck-up high-lvl teammates who does things by himself, and gets owned throughout the game. SOmetimes you get teammates who like to talk, and when teammates talk, the game gets exciting, because you’d be telling each other stuff like;

“FS can harass solo, you TC come with me. we pull them to us”
“cover me”
“get raiders rdy, we’re gonna nuke that DK”
“go for the cats first”
“wait for my ping*”
“just a lil, more”
“GO” [pings like crazy]

and ultimately…

“gj guys**”

And maaan,… nothing beats the satisfaction of a comeback victory, especially if it’s about avenging a teammate whose base was completely wiped out, save for his 2 heroes. Man, we barely won that if it wasn’t for this ‘immortal’ TC and an ally paladin constantly healing the big cow. Ahh.. gone are the days. But rest assured, I’ll set aside some cash and buy original copies and rejoin you, my random unknown comrades!

Meanwhile, I’ve been playing at Blue server, and DotA is boring me really quickly. Not to say the gameplay is repetitive, no, not in AR games. AR games are fun because sometime I get a hero I don’t know how to use, and I get fucked up and scolded because of it. YOU FUCKING ASSHOLES, I DON’T KNOW HOW TO PLAY THIS BULLSHIT SO STFU ALREADY AND LET ME LEARN THIS SHIT! Phew.

So yeah, I’ve been going around in hopes of people hosting more interesting games, like tower defense maps, hero siege, enfo’s and such. Hell, in fact some of the most fun games I played was Run Kitty Run and Pyramid Escape. While certain lags means death, sometimes its a lot of fun. I mean, I can play some serious skill-demanding games once in a while, but sometimes I just wanna have fun and laugh like hell.

I mean, what can be funnier that to have your peasant run away from a rampaging giant beetle through a tunnel with rocks falling from the ceiling? Oh having a cute widdle kiddy cat run through a spiral while avoiding dogs that litter the path? Or building a defense of towers and have mindless pigs run past them only the get killed?

I play games for fun. What do YOU play for?

note:
* ping – sending a signal on the minimap, which goes ‘ping!’ and a beacon lights up on the spot where you pinged. usually used to inform teammates of a certain location.

** gj guys – Good Job Guys. What you say when the team has accomplished something nicely. other variations include, ‘nj’ for ‘Nice Job’, ‘gw’ and ‘nw’ for ‘Good Work’ and ‘Nice Work’ respectively.
