Holidays will be over come Monday, now that the 3rd trimester has started. I’m looking forward to make up for my losses from the wasted 1st trimester. But to celebrate all that is funky during the holidays, I decided to have another barbeque night with my 3 homies. Just us. I like to keep my events small, private and relaxed.
So yesterday, I went out to do a little shopping. Went to Giant with Dad, and constantly ticking off items in the mental checklist. The menu for the day included:
- lamb chops
- chicken wings and drumsticks
- beef burgers
- squids
- potatoes [mashed]
- baked beans
- assorted soft drinks
I knew the cooler box I bought would be convenient at certain times, but tonight it’s just a star. I simply tossed in a few canned drinks, 2 bottles of soft drinks, a carton of soya bean drink, and RM 3 worth of tube ice. Toss in some salt [so the ice won't melt as fast], and voila, no messy jugs. Want a cold drink, take out the bottle, pour, and toss it back in. Damn, the scenario was simply too cool for words [pun honestly intended].
As for the marinade, well, I did a simple basic one. For the chicken, minced garlic, minced ginger, and minced onion mixed with a tablespoon of ground black pepper, some mints, oregano powder, a bit of lime, pinch of salt, LOTS of oyster sauce and generous amounts of Teriyaki sauce.
The lamb chops however was even simpler, generous blobs of Masterfood’s Mustard, Honey and Herbs sauce, a dash of oyster sauce, a few tablespoons of Worcestershire sauce, a bit of BBQ sauce, tablespoon of ground black pepper and some mint stirred together.
The squids, well, just teriyaki, oyster sauce, a bit of corn flour and pepper to taste. I couldn’t wait to get to them back then. Earlier this evening, took everything out, grills, food and all. Had no problems starting the fire, but it died a bit too early since I used too little charcoal. Getting it burning again was a bit of a hassle, with Syafiq and Tiki going out to get some fuel, Syakil and I DID manage to light it back on our own. Especially after fanning the goddamn grill at high-speed for abt a whole minute non-stop.
As we do everytime we hang out, we ate, talked shit, ate, talked shit, ate, talked shit, drink a bit and continue to talk more shit. Here’s some photos.
*happy sigh* Well, tomorrow is cleaning up day. Gotta sleep. Oh, and Fairuz would like to share a dumb riddle, in retort to the jokes mentioned in an earlier post:
Dua tiga kucing berlari,
KL kat mana?
