I’m typing this entry here on a new keyboard. Just to see how it would feel like. I’m on the bed, about a few metres away from the screen. Occasionally looking up to see if I would be comfortable typing away from a distance, or in a different posture.
It turns out to be most comfortable to type on while sitting straight. Well, not exactly straight la, because I’m leaning really back and being really really relaxed.
Why all the fuss about typing? Well, let’s put it as ‘I’m too over-excited about this new cordless keyboard I just bought’.
The simple truth is, I am.
This Logitech Cordless Elite keyboard is my first cordless input device. What makes this keyboard special isn’t the fat that it’s cordless, but more towards the extra features it has. But let’s start with keyboard basics.
First thing to notice about this keyboard is…a big Backspace key. Why the backspace key, you ask? Well, the reason is simple. I play Warcraft 3 on a regular basis, and in Warcraft 3, the backspace key is VERY useful since one keystroke will switch my view to my base. Previously, this task is a hard one to achieve due to small, one-square backspace keys. Now that it’s easier for me to hit ‘Backspace’ I’m very VERY happy.
The second thing, is the height of the keys. The ergonomic flow and contour of the keys has always been Logitech’s pride. And I feel it in this keyboard as well. The hieght is just nice, too. Not too tall like those old keyboards, or too thin like ones on a laptop. It justsuit the right height for regular pressure. It’s also very very quiet, compared to previous ’simple’ keyboard I used.
Thw most prominent and useful feature on the Elite has to be the media controls at the upper portions of the board. It has a nice, big, flat, horizontal wheel to control the volume [clockwise to increase], a mute key, 4 media control keys for next track, previous track, play/pause, and stop. The thing that really aces this feature? The latest driver makes it compatible with ANY media player! FYI, I’m using Winamp 5.05 and the Elite is just ‘dewa’.
Other features like the iTouch is just plain fussy lah. I prefer doing it classic style with key combinations instead being too dependent on one shortcut key. I might include a photo and extra details like specs, battery, price etc. later cause right now, I wanna sleep.
