“This wealth of technology means that a significant number of children are not experiencing family life. Three out of five 11- to 14-year-olds say that everyone at home is free to get on with their lives and interests, and 53 per cent say that as long as they do well at school, they can do what they like. A similar proportion - 51 per cent - say they prefer spending time on their own.” - The Daily Telegraph
Too bad lah. Did they fail to notice that these kids come to an empty household almost everytime, with parents at work, or siblings busy with their own lives. What family values are we looking at when there isn’t even a family to begin with?
We’ve always heard of stuff like parents not understanding their children, and vice-versa.
“Why is my son so difficult to talk to?”
“Why can’t Mom listen to me for a second?”
Guuuuuhh. I’m so sick of hearing these kind of complaints. If it’s anything primary initiative should be taken by the parents. As example setters, parents should do the most important thing. Not talk, but to listen.
“You should talk to your children more,”
“Ask about what your child did at school, who their friends are, and what they do with them”
Here’s a middlefinger for you, smart-ass _|_
You know what? Talking is one thing. Listening is another. Responding, isn’t the same as talking. I know one thing parents lack. Time. Time to pay attention. Time to just listen. Time to know what a part of themselves are going through in life.
“Why does my daughter always hide things from me?”
Answer is simple. She can’t trust you with her little secret. She worries that you will not approve it, and she would lose her chance for some fun. She worries that you would punish her for it. She worries you will go against her wishes. She just couldn’t trust you.
If children can talk freely to their parents about anything, it simply means their parents can be trusted. Those kids know that their parents do and decide for the best.
“Why can’t all kids be like that?”
Because, smart-ass, they’re human. And because they’re affected by the people around them. The most influential ones being their parents. A lousy first impression and these kids will end up trusting their friends more than they can trust you.
And it is because they trust their friends that they depend on tehnology to stay in touch. Video games, you say? That’s just common ground between friends, like shopping is between women. Duh.
“A possible scenario could be that as more parents who are first-time computer owners begin upgrading their machines, they ‘relegate’ their previous computers to their children’s rooms,” the report says. -The Daily Telegraph
You did that and you ask why your child is so distant from you? You stupid or what? If you’re wondering why your child is cold to you, don’t you think your kid has always been asking the same thing about you? Sheesh.
Mak, Ayah, I love you so much I can’t ask for more. But there are just some things I just want to keep a secret. If it’s anything you want to change, you can’t change me. But you can change yourself.
It’s not like I’ve got anything to do with it anymore. Why do I keep wanting to know so much? It’s not gonna change anything. Why the hell am I confusing myself over feelings like this?
It’s really annoying the fuck out of me. I’ve tried so hard to just let it pass and remind myself of other things to worry about. Why? Why am I so concerned about it? I can’t change anything. Not even, my own feelings.
But, instinctively, I went ahead. I just…need to know. I want to know. Though I’ve no hand in it anymore, a smal part of me, somewhere in the deepest trenches of my heart, wants to be a part of it.
It’s just…impossible. It sucks.

…sells more types of batik than the types of computer mice available?
I’m never attending that PC Fair again.
Okay, okay, so I’m just exaggerating the fact that MP is hosting both the PIKOM PC Fair AND The Malaysian Batik Carnival. Thing is, they could’ve just separated the two events. I mean, MP tu bukan kecik. Do they HAVE to sumbat batik booths in between the PC Fair booths? OMG that’s so fucking annoying. Nasib baik batik tu lawa, kalau tak memang aku flame cukup-cukup. Sakit hati betul.
Oh well, if it was anything I got myself a new keyboard to replace my old one [it had several damaged keys, and the cabling is screwed up, too] and Yun Chuan got himslef a nice pink jigsaw puzzle frame. Why pink? Well, the story goes like this;
At the beginning of the semester, YC bought himself a Chobits 1000pc puzzle. We saved a lot of electricity when we assembled it [it took us less than a week] so he wanted to frame it up. The next trip to MP returns a cool dark blue frame along with new puzzles XD
He bought a dark blue themed Yuna, and a dark blue themed Squall/Rinoa 1000pc puzzle. We decided to do Yuna first [pun intended] because she’s hotter than Rinoa. Another friend of ours completed it for us a few weeks ago. And YC somehow thought of a great idea. The Chobits puzzle was pinkish green, so a blue frame doesn’t suit well compared to a pink one. So tonight’s trip was to get a pink frame. So we replaced Chobits in the new frame, and let Yuna be in the blue one.
Well, that’s how it went. I’ve just finished my Doom 3 session, still stuck in Hell [really] and I’ll give it a full review later ;)
I read a very interesting article at Suara Malaysia on Why English is Important. I must urge you to read it, because it’s very very enlightening.
